Wheatland Family & Community Support Services
COMMUNITY    FEE    ASSISTANCE    PROGRAM
Wheatland County Municipality, in partnership with Wheatland Wind Project LP and East Strathmore Solar Project, have created the Community Fee Assistance Program to give low-income Wheatland County** families and individuals an affordable option to participate in recreation, arts, libraries, culture programs and activities such as exercise or sports (drop-in or formal).

​This program will also assist in the cost of travelling to these activities.
YES – we will cover the cost of the following:
​
All ages accepted – 0-99
  • 60% of the registration cost up to a maximum of $750 for organized sports. Maximum 1 major sport per person per year*
    • Hockey
    • Football
    • Soccer
    • Curling
    • Ringette
    • Volleyball
    • Horseback riding
    • Baseball/Softball
    • Figure skating
    • Competitive gymnastics
    • Competitive dance
    • Lacrosse
  • 100% of program if it includes supplies and total cost is $150 or less
  • 60% of program cost if it includes supplies and total cost is $151 or more to a maximum of $600 per year.
    • Art/swimming/skating lessons/drop-in sessions
    • Library programs that have an attached cost
    • Wheatland Society of Arts programs
    • The Vault programs
    • Gymnastics/dance classes
    • Rodeo school-lessons
    • Music lessons
    • Archery
    • School related extracurricular activities – participation fees only (field trips)
    • School related programs that provide cultural or recreational activities – case-by-case basis
    • Club memberships – Lions/Legion, Seniors clubs, youth clubs (4H, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides)
    • Drop in Yoga/exercise classes
 
No – we will not cover the following:
  • Any program not hosted or originating out of Wheatland County, unless it is not available within Wheatland County.
  • Equipment
  • Supplies not included in the registration cost if registration cost is more than $150
  • Horse back riding for therapy
  • School trips outside of Alberta.
  • Gym memberships
  • Application from residents who do not live in Wheatland County, Strathmore is it's own Municipality
  • Private Tutoring lessons
 
Transportation Subsidy Assistance
Subsidy assistance may be available by contacting our office at 403-934-5335. Please note we do not provide or arrange transportation, we are only able to assist financially.

**Wheatland County includes Hussar, Standard, Rockyford and rural County locations. Residents living in the Town of Strathmore are not eligible for this program.

            Family size and total family income:
                              1 person   $40,000 or less
                              2 people   $55,000 or less
                              3 people   $70,000 or less
                              4 people   $80,000 or less
                              5 people   $90,000 or less
                              More than 5 people  - a maximum of $90,000  plus $7,500 for each additional person or less  - please contact the office to discuss
